Nearly there but not quite

Hooray the end is in sight.. the cakes are marzipaned and iced - tomorrow it will be finish the cravats and make Clare's stole.   Clare's doing the table decorations on Saturday and the table plan - then it will be just look forward to the 27th March. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather.

Jack has had a hair cut this week and looks as cute as a puppy even though he is nearly 13.  He's got to look his best to have picture taken with the bride.

10 days and counting

The bridesmaids dresses are done, the cravats are nearly finished so now its just the cake and a stole for Clare's shoulders!  When the wedding has taken place I will definitely have some time for quilting. 

A week that was !

This week has been a "week that was" in that I have had the dreaded throat and cough virus that seems to last forever.  Still have to carry on and get the bridesmaid dresses finished ready for my youngest daughter's wedding on 27 March 2010. One down two to finish, then it's marzipan and ice the cake!   No pressure there then. Wish me luck over the next two weeks.

Double sided Quilt

This is a fantastic method of quick

quilting.  It works well for children

or older people especially if the quilt

needs to be washed frequently. 

It was introduced to me by my

friend Elaine who was taught

the method by a mutual friend. It is

Constructed in squares first then

trimmed and joined with sashing

and bound as normal.  Made in 2009 and given to my daughter Emma.

My quilting domain

This is my quilting shed.  I have had it for about five years and, as you can see, after three years I found I needed an extension!  My husband is very clever and managed to carry on the line of the Swiss chalet type roof and create a large storage space for my fabric stash..... I also do a bit of teaching and have worktops all the way round the main part of the space with sockets to accomodate those who want to sew by machine.  At the moment the inside is a bit of a mess so when it is clearer I will let you see what it's like.  Happy quilting.

Pinwheel Lap Quilt

This quilt was made for Becky our grandaughter in Germany. It is made out of sraps with the mottled blue background  fabric left over from a quilt I made my daughter and her husband.  Keep it in the family as they say!

Quilted Sunday

It is raining cats and dogs today - so it is a good day to sew and cosy up in front of the TV. I am just finishing off a quilt I started a long time ago which reflects a holiday to Egypt. Look out for the next blog with a picture of the completed quilt.
